Bringing History to Life with Julie

1st-2nd and 3rd-4th

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a soldier in the American Revolution fighting beside General George Washington? Did you ever think it would be super cool to toss a box of tea into a harbor just to show England that you will not be told where your hard earned money should go? Have you ever wondered if what you read in history books really happened the way the stories claim it has? History does not have to be dry and boring if you join the eccentric Julie as she takes you on a tour of American History the only way she knows how...the fun way with costumes and hands on learning adventures. We will start with early American History, work our way through Colonial Times into the American Revolution and end with America becoming independent from England.

This is Not a Writing Class with Crystal

1st-2nd and 3rd-4th

This is not a writing class on writing formats, structures or mechanics. Oh no! This is a class designed to help children access the words within them and put those words out into the world! Our goal for this class will be to help students establish their voice. This class won’t be about filling up pages with words, but about discovering the power and play of language.

In this class, we will explore writing by going OUTSIDE the lines and students will consider what constitutes writing in new and fun ways. This course will meet children where they are at in their writing life, so don’t worry if your children don’t have much writing experience or if they HATE it all together. We will be focusing heavily on word play, communication, observation and oral storytelling! This class will include homework some weeks.
